It seems that Sajid Nadiadwala is keen on cashing SRK’s international image by making an English version to his ambitious venture 2 States. The film which was supposed to be made in Hindi will have an English version too and the producer has already roped in Sabrina Dhawan [writer of Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding] to write an English version.
Vishal Bharadwaj is set to direct this flick and as of now he would be associated with Sabrina to script this bilingual flick. This would be the first time that Shahrukh would be appearing in a bilingual flick.
When asked why an international version when the story has Indian-ness to it Sajid clarifies that “2 States has a much wider reach in terms of it being appreciated internationally as it is already a successful book and with SRK on board it has the potential to break boundaries”.
At the same time Sajid plans to release 2 States before SRK starts Xtreme City, a Hollywood film that will see SRK alongside Leonardo Di Caprio.
2 States will go on floors from the month of July and southern sensation Ileana D’ Cruz is tentatively paired opposite the Kal Ho Naa Ho star.
It looks like Hollywood A-listers would face some stiff competition from SRK in near future.
